Spring tree planting

Plant more trees

Every year we get a small order of bare root trees from the Virginia Department of Forestry. This year we got 5 Norway Spruce and 5 Scotch Pine. We plant them as a wind barrier, but after a few years we have accidentally created a Christmas tree farm. The Norway Spruce are so small.

I have to put out spare electric fence posts to mark them so I don’t mow over them later.

We have had a few hot days, so I need to water the little trees just about every day until their roots are established. A big tote for the water, and the zero turn mower pulling a garden cart to move the tote around. I can easily haul more than 10 gallons of water.
